In October 2016, the federal government announced a National Carbon Pricing Policy. Carbon pricing is any method that puts a price on carbon emissions, whether it be a DIRECT tax or an INDIRECT tax under a Cap-and-Trade program.

Effective January 1st 2017, Ontario will introduce a Cap-and-Trade program. Cap and Trade will directly affect petroleum and propane products brought into the Ontario market. The cost of this indirect tax is built in at the refinery level and will not be shown as a separate line item on your bill.

This program will affect customers on Fixed Price Propane and Price Guard contracts. Cap and Trade will be incorporated into these contracts, as required.
